“Immersive exhibition LABYRINTH BARDO” – a combination of music, painting, VJ and poetry. It is designed as a two-story maze.
It’s my first experience of an independent art and poetry exhibition, where the guys and I organized everything from scratch, without curators and art managers in the @minskhide space in November 2019.
The concept of the exhibition was as follows: @aatma.poetry wrote philosophical poetry, @fillfree2018 wrote music, poetry was put on it. When I heard this space mix I wrote 10 paintings, one paintings for 10 compositions.
Each paintings immerses you in a certain state, which conveys verse and ambient music. People could move through the rooms of the labyrinth, listen to compositions and contemplate pictures in the dark. From time to time, paintings are observed from light installations directed at them.
The entire immersive exhibition was made in the format of a black labyrinth, divided into 6 rooms – BARDO states – a concept in Tibetan Buddhism that means “transition” or the interval between the completion of one situation and the beginning of another. The passage from one room to another symbolizes the six states of BARDO: the process of dying, dharmata, birth, life, sleep and meditative concentration.
Exhibitors: @yourtruepoetry Yulia Kravchenko – poetry, Marie Skakun – painting, @ fillfree2018 Sergey Fillfree – music, @streepteaze Vitaly Tomashevich – VJing.
We opened the exhibition with the performance “Birth”, and on every day of the exhibition we did an event.
