Acrylic, oil, wax pastel on canvas

This painting was born out of the early days of spring—when nature begins to awaken, open, and hum with vibrant energy. The Lost Garden is a metaphor for an inner space that had long remained hidden but suddenly began to bloom, breathe, and come alive. Flowing forms and luminous colors evoke movement, sensuality, feminine energy, and a gentle sense of unfolding. It is a deeply personal place the artist has rediscovered—and now invites the viewer to step inside.

The post The Lost Garden first appeared on .

This painting was created in Goa. I was simply watching the waves of daylight — how it plays, how it shimmers, how it changes. And at some point, I realized that this is exactly what I wanted to capture — not a subject, not an object, but this very feeling. A state of lightness, carefree joy, and relaxation that I was living through at the time, and that now lives on in this work.

I love watching the play of sunlight — the way it lands on everything around, leaving behind soft highlights, shadows, glimmers. These are natural, everyday processes, nothing extraordinary, but there is absolute beauty in them.

This is the state I wanted to convey. The painting feels like an invitation to pause, to freeze for a moment, to stop rushing — and just look. Look and feel.

The post PLAY OF LIGHT first appeared on .

In “The Play of Light”, Mari Skakun reveals her unique visual code, exploring the interplay of light, movement, and color. Created en plein air in Goa, this work captures the ever-changing dance of sunlight on palm leaves. For the artist, this act of observation is not merely a moment of fixation but a painterly investigation into the very nature of light itself.

Combining oil and oil pastel, Mari creates a sense of continuous motion. Her energetic brushstrokes and expressive lines do more than depict visual impressions—they capture the breath of nature, its rhythms, and its pulses. The flexible canvas (58×84 cm) serves as a membrane, absorbing and transforming light into a vibrant pictorial language.

“The Play of Light” is an invitation to contemplation. The painting transcends the traditional landscape, evolving into a dialogue with the viewer, an attempt to convey something intangible—something that often escapes the eye. This is the essence of Mari Skakun’s work: they do not merely depict nature, but speak in its very language.

Mari Skakun is an abstract expressionist painter and a participant in international exhibitions. The artist lives and works in Paris, France.
Maria develops a unique visual code based on intuitive lines and an exploration of the subconscious, conveying emotional and psychological states. Through her artistic process, the artist experiences various psychological conditions, on the canvas, making it a deeply mystical process. Her works explore the connection between corporeality, sexuality, and the inner world, creating a space for viewers to deeply immerse themselves in the subject. Her art is filled with emotions and feelings.
Her paintings are in many collections around the world.
Maria has participated in international exhibitions in France, Poland, and Belarus, and has also held seven solo exhibitions.
Maria has a higher art education, having graduated from the Institute of Contemporary Knowledge in Minsk, and also holds a degree in architecture.

This painting, created in an original technique, invites the viewer to decode its visual language. The lines and strokes, resembling the whispering voices of flowers, form an intricate network of shapes and shades. Every element—from the flowing curves to bursts of vivid tones—carries the symbolism of spring’s renewal. Here, nature speaks in the language of color and movement, transforming flowers into a metaphor for tenderness and awakening. The painting leaves a sense of dialogue, where each glance unveils a new phrase of this living, springtime whisper.

The post WHISPER OF SPRING first appeared on .

“The Dance of Hidden Shadows in the Mystical Forest of the Unconscious” is a work by Maria Skakun, created in her signature technique.
The painting was crafted over the course of several months, allowing the artist to deeply immerse herself in the process and refine every detail.

Mari delves into the depths of her unconscious, exploring the interplay with the shadow aspects of personality. By working with emotions often hidden from view — sadness, aggression, and fear — she crafts a space where these feelings find form and meaning.

Through her unique visual code, Maria conveys the atmosphere of a mysterious forest where shadowy entities and inner experiences intertwine in a dance. Each brushstroke and line on the canvas serves as a tool for profound self-exploration. The painting reveals a world where the unconscious unfolds in the form of hidden shadows, transforming into an integral part of inner harmony.

This piece invites viewers to engage in a dialogue with their own shadows, inspiring self-acceptance and turning complex emotions into a source of strength and growth.
It is recommended not to hang this painting opposite a window, as sunlight may significantly mute the dark shades.

The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity
The artwork is created with high-quality oil paints on canvas.
This is a one of a kind painting, an absolutely unique creation by me, Mari Skakun

This painting, as an empirical experience, was born from the influence of attending the Ozora Festival of psychedelic music, where sound and nature united people in a powerful energetic flow.
It is dedicated to absolute love, emotional and physical intimacy, the connection between masculine and feminine, and the mystical interaction of energies.

The painting’s visual code is rich in symbols and nuances, highlighting the fine line between the physical and the spiritual. Abstract forms and soft, flowing colors—mainly pastel pinks and blues—convey a sense of lightness and harmony. Vibrant accents, like bold red and orange lines, add dynamism and depth—like a reflection of life itself, pulsing to the rhythm of emotions. Smooth contours of figures flow into one another, symbolizing unity and the balance of energies.

I recommend viewing this painting with your heart and emotions, feeling the vibrations of color and paying attention to any associations that arise.

What do you feel when looking at this interplay of forms and shades? Perhaps the painting will reveal something new about your own relationship with the concepts of closeness and unity.

This canvas, painted in oil, was created on a September evening in a park near the Château de Rambouillet. The artist was inspired by nature in its autumn splendor, as the soft light of the setting sun bathed the leaves in warm tones. Working from life, the author sought to capture not only the outer appearance of the plants but also their inner energy. The oil painting technique allowed for a rich color palette and smooth transitions between shades, enhancing the evening atmosphere when nature seems to pause in anticipation of the night, while still retaining its lush beauty.

The special value of this painting lies in the fact that it was painted from life, allowing the artist to capture the uniqueness of the moment, frozen in a harmony that will never be repeated in the same way again.

The post THE FIRE OF COLORS first appeared on .

The painting, created in an expressive oil technique, depicts flowers that seem to blaze with bursts of life. Free, sweeping brushstrokes evoke a sense of energetic movement, as if the flowers themselves are swaying in the wind or bursting forth with an unstoppable force of growth. The red and orange petals, like flames, contrast with the soft shades of green and blue, giving the composition depth and volume. The background is rendered in muted tones, allowing the vibrant flowers to “leap” off the canvas and seize the viewer’s attention. Thanks to this bold and dynamic technique, the painting is imbued with a sense of passion and the wild, untamed beauty of nature. Each line and stroke conveys the artist’s inner rhythm and emotions, creating a unique impression of life and movement captured in a static form.

The post SEPTEMBER FLOWERS first appeared on .
