The Lost Garden

140 × 170 cm
Acrylic, oil, wax pastel on canvas

This painting was born out of the early days of spring—when nature begins to awaken, open, and hum with vibrant energy. The Lost Garden is a metaphor for an inner space that had long remained hidden but suddenly began to bloom, breathe, and come alive. Flowing forms and luminous colors evoke movement, sensuality, feminine energy, and a gentle sense of unfolding. It is a deeply personal place the artist has rediscovered—and now invites the viewer to step inside.

The post The Lost Garden first appeared on .

This painting was created in Goa. I was simply watching the waves of daylight — how it plays, how it shimmers, how it changes. And at some point, I realized that this is exactly what I wanted to capture — not a subject, not an object, but this very feeling. A state of lightness, carefree joy, and relaxation that I was living through at the time, and that now lives on in this work.

I love watching the play of sunlight — the way it lands on everything around, leaving behind soft highlights, shadows, glimmers. These are natural, everyday processes, nothing extraordinary, but there is absolute beauty in them.

This is the state I wanted to convey. The painting feels like an invitation to pause, to freeze for a moment, to stop rushing — and just look. Look and feel.

The post PLAY OF LIGHT first appeared on .

In this expressive canvas, I channeled raw emotion through the dance of oil and pastel. The soft, yet vibrant hues craft a dreamscape that stirs the soul, hinting at nature’s eternal whimsy. Each stroke is a whisper of my inner chaos, harmonized into a symphony of color and energy. It’s meant to inspire, evoke wonder, and add a breath of creative life to any space it graces.
The artwork is created with high-quality oil paints on canvas.
This is a one of a kind painting, an absolutely unique creation by me, Mari Skakun
Unframed. In situ images for illustration purposes only.
Due to its large size, the artwork will be shipped rolled to make the delivery more convenient and cost-effective.
